Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, incorporated in 1993, produces a range of marketable products like petroleum, crude natural gas liquid, aromatics rich naphtha, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), superior kerosene and ethane - propane as petrochemical feedstock.
The company having its registered office in New Delhi, India, produces 90% of the country`s crude oil and natural gas and holds petroleum exploration licenses for 80 per cent of the sedimentary basins.
Till date, ONGC has produced more than 600 million metric tonnes of crude oil and supplied more than 200 billion cubic metres of gas. The grant of marketing rights and the acquisition of Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals (MRPL) are major steps in transforming ONGC into an integrated oil and gas corporate.
The company has ONGC Videsh (OVL), Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals (MRPL) and ONGC Nile Ganga as its subsidiaries. ONGC also shares participation in JVs namely Petronet LNG, Petronet MHB, Pawan Hans Helicopters, ONGIO International, Dahej SEZ Tripura Power Development Company.
ONGC plans doubling of in-place reserves to 12 btoe, improving average recovery factor to 40% and sourcing 20 MMToe equity from overseas. Also, the core business of Oil & Gas E&P is being transformed into vertically integrated fossil-fuel business. In order to exploit the availability of hydrocarbons, the company proposes to build two world-class crackers, one each in Dahej and Mangalore SEZs. These will be dual-feed, with C2 + fractions of LNG, as well as feed-grade Naphtha as inputs.
